About Us 

Led by Veronica Williams-Jakubus and Marnita Dickerson, the mission of the Institute of Dance at Marygrove, a year-long dance school on the Marygrove campus, is to provide students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds with high quality, developmentally appropriate dance programs. 

The purpose of IDM is to nurture and harness creativity, foster discipline, strengthen technical and performance skills, heighten artistic awareness and encourage a life-long interest in the arts. 

Over 20+ Years of Delivering Dance at Marygrove 

The Institute of Dance is continuing the long, rich history of dance instruction at the Marygrove campus. Formerly part of the Institute of Music & Dance (IMD), The Institute of Dance at Marygrove was created to ensure access to quality dance programming at the Marygrove campus. An essential fabric of the Fitzgerald neighborhood, we aim to provide dance instruction for decades to come.  

Our Passion is Dance Education 

With combined dance experience of 80+ years, our instructors are seasoned professionals with a passion for youth dance education. 

 

 

 

 

Winter/Spring 2023 Registration

Registration:

Registration for our Winter/Spring 2023 session will open soon!  

You may register by clicking on the green links or in person from 9:00-1:00 on Saturdays. Checks should be made payable to The Institute of Dance at Marygrove.

If you are paying with a credit card, we will send you an invoice. A $2 per course processing fee will be added.

For students taking multiple classes only, 50% may be paid by January 28, 2023 with the other 50% due by April 15, 2023. 

*Note: Any outstanding balances must be paid in full by June 1 or you may not purchase tickets for our Spring Recital.

Ballet:

Ballet I (age 4-6)-An introduction to ballet focused on pre-ballet skills and beginning technique.

Sat. 12:00-12:45 Studio 212 $108

Ballet I (7 and up)- An entry level ballet class focusing on the introduction of ballet technique and basic steps.

Sat. 10:00-11:00 Studio 212 $144

Ballet 2 – A second level class for students who have mastered the basic steps and skills taught in Ballet I.

Sat. 9:00-10:00 Studio 211 $144

Ballet 3 – A more intense class for serious dance students. Focus is on improved technique and more complex combinations of steps. Meets twice a week.

Sat. 12:45-2:00/211 and Tues. 5:15-6:15/212 $324

Ballet 4 – A more advanced class for dedicated students. Focus is on advanced combinations, advanced performance of skills and development of repertoire.

 Jazz:

Jazz I (ages 4-6) – A beginning jazz class. Students will learn basic jazz techniques and steps.

 Jazz I (ages 7 and up) – A beginning class for first time dancers or those continuing from the younger class.

Adult Dance:

Adult Jazz -A class for adults to explore various genres of jazz dance while participating in an enjoyable workout.

Adult Tap – A class for adults who have at least one year of tap experience.
